Dinner under a glass roof

Prague Boats' three-hour evening cruise on a glass boat, with a buffet prepared on board, a welcome drink and live music between the courses. Pick it over the standard dinner cruise if you want glass walls around you and, on a mild night, the roof slid open.

Glass Boat Dinner Cruise with Buffet

About this experience

The glass boats are Grand Bohemia, Bohemia Rhapsody and Agnes de Bohemia: partly glass-walled, with a sliding roof that opens when the weather allows. The GetYourGuide listing also names Anna Carolina, one of Prague Boats' electric catamarans, and you learn the boat's name when you arrive. The listing has two meeting points depending on the option, so go by your voucher. Prague Boats' own Crystal dinner sails daily at 7 p.m. from Čech Bridge, with none on 24 and 31 December. The cruise is three hours, a round trip past the Rudolfinum, Charles Bridge, the Dancing House and the Castle, and lock traffic can shorten the route but not the evening.

You start with a welcome drink, Prosecco or a soft alternative, then the buffet: duck pâté, Czech cheeses and cold cuts, salads, chicken noodle soup, beef goulash, schnitzels, ham on the bone, paella, dumplings, and desserts. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are on it. Further drinks are bought on board. The live music is background: Prague Boats describes jazz, classical or lighter music depending on the evening, with breaks between sets, and guests mention a pianist one night and a band with a singer another. Good music, not a jazz concert.

Seats come in tiers. The standard seat is in the middle of the boat with views through the glass on both sides; the window option guarantees a seat by the glass; and De Luxe on Prague Boats' own site puts you in the bow with a Kir Royale, a bottle per couple and unlimited water. Tables seat up to six. Prague Boats says there are toilets on all its large boats, and that Grand Bohemia, Bohemia Rhapsody and Agnes de Bohemia are fully wheelchair accessible, with an accessible toilet. Pets and large bags are not allowed. The cruise sails in any weather: the main deck is covered, heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer. Only extreme weather or high water on the Vltava cancels a sailing, and Prague Boats then offers another date. Prague Boats suggests smart casual, but nothing formal is required.

A pleasant, relaxing ride, good food and friendly staff. [...] Superbly prepared and set. There was half a bottle of wine per person and unlimited still water. Other drinks were, of course, available for purchase. The buffet was very tasty and was always replenished when needed.

The host was fantastic and made you feel very welcome, he was very attentive as were the waiting staff. Food was excellent and as a buffet did not dissapoint, plenty select both hot and cold. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Tips before you book

  • Book the window option. Guests who paid for it say it was worth it, and the centre tables see the city through two layers of reflection after dark.
  • Let the first rush at the buffet pass. One guest found the queue congested, and the dishes are refilled all evening.
  • Celebrating? Prague Boats lets you bring a cake or flowers if you tell them in advance.
  • Weighing it against the other dinner cruises? Our cruise prices guide lines up what each one costs.
