Vltava Lunch Cruise on a Glass Boat with Live Music

About this experience

Prague Boats runs this cruise on its glass boats, Grand Bohemia, Bohemia Rhapsody or Agnes de Bohemia, and its own site shows a noon departure for 2 hours. You are welcomed with a traditional Czech aperitif, then the buffet opens and stays open: on the operator's 2026 list, breads, Czech cheeses and cold cuts, duck pâté and salads; hot dishes such as chicken broth, beef goulash, chicken schnitzel and pasta; Karlovy Vary dumplings and rice on the side; gingerbread, cheesecake, tiramisu and fruit salad to finish. Prague Boats says vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are part of every buffet, with at least one vegan item. Other drinks are bought at the bar, and reviewers call the prices reasonable.

About the music, since that is what this site is about: the listing promises live music on board (accordionist), and recent reviewers also describe a guitarist. Either way it is background music for lunch, played in sets with short breaks, not a jazz concert. Live jazz on the water is a different ticket: the Jazz Boat puts a band on board for three sets, 2 hours 30 minutes from Terminal 18 on Dvořákovo nábřeží, usually at 7:30 p.m. From the pier the boat passes the Rudolfinum and goes under Charles Bridge with the Castle above, then south past the National Theatre, the Dancing House and the Emmaus Monastery to Vyšehrad and the Podolí waterworks; on the way back it runs on to the Štvanice power station. River traffic and the locks can change the route; the length stays the same.

The GetYourGuide listing tells you to go to Pier 3A, where a screen shows your departure pier and the name of your boat; you then scan your QR code at the boat entrance. One reviewer boarded at Pier 2 and walked across to the right boat, so arrive early: Prague Boats suggests 30 to 40 minutes before departure. The Prague Boats pier is on Dvořákovo nábřeží by Čech Bridge, at the river end of Pařížská street, about 10 minutes on foot from Old Town Square. The nearest tram stop is Právnická fakulta (lines 17 and 18) and the nearest metro station is Staroměstská on line A. The glass boats are wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet; mention a wheelchair in your booking note, since a classic boat can stand in on rare days. Tables seat up to 6, so larger groups are split over several. No pets, no luggage or large bags.

What guests say

★★★★★

The lunch cruise is highly recommended. The participants were allowed on the ship half an hour before departure, which eased the rush. There was bread and dip on the table right away, drinks could be ordered, and the prices were absolutely reasonable. The buffet lunch was very extensive and delicious, and the service was first-class and very friendly. [...] Thanks also to the live accordion player.

Tips before you book

  • Arrive early and read the board at Pier 3A. The boats moor side by side and you may cross one to reach yours.
  • Go to the buffet in the first quarter of an hour, before the queue builds.
  • Keep some small change for the musician. Reviewers tip on the way out.
  • Ask for a window table when you board. On a glass boat every seat has a view, but the window seats have the best one.
  • Leave the dog at the hotel. Animals are not allowed on dining cruises.
